This brand new facility is fully adaptable to suit both theory and practical courses and is designed for small group training. There is ample car and motorcycle parking available on site and is accessible by bus and train.
For all training courses but especially “train the trainer” courses, the classroom has two different interactive whiteboard systems with full projection facilities from computer, DVD, video and visualiser sources.
There is extensive first aid training equipment available, including enough for a class of 12 to have one resuscitation manikin per pair of students. This is supported by junior and infant manikins and airway management manikins. A range of stretchers, including basket, scoop and Neil Robertson as well as standard and Aquaboard spine boards are available for more advanced courses. A range of defibrillation training units is also available.
For Marine Radio Short Range Certificate courses, the centre is equipped with four ICOM M-421 marine radio simulators coupled to a real time GPS simulator. This enables classes to safely practice sending distress and other radio calls without fear of causing a false alarm. A range of live and dummy equipment supports the theoretical input on the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System.
